We are a library on wheels and since 1962, we have been supplying the citizens of Erlangen who live in the districts a little too far from the library with books and many more items. Therefore the mobile library serves as a source of information and gives you recommendations about your leisure time. Last but not least, it is a place where people who are interested in literature can meet. On a weekly basis, the mobile library with its committed team serves 18 stops and delivers around 4,000 items directly at the library user’s door. Moreover, we have a storeroom with further 17,000 items and in order to guarantee a smooth delivery, we can also fall back on the library’s total stock.
On board we have novels and non-fiction literature for children, young people and adults, audio books and story tapes, CD-ROMS, DVDs, magazines, comics, music CDs and games.
Our stock which is clearly arranged and adapted to the user’s wishes is continuously completed and updated. Please let us know if you have any comments or wishes.
School and Mobile Library
The mobile library encourages the close cooperation of schools and libraries, e.g. with visits of five schools in Erlangen every 4 weeks.
The staff of the mobile library also gives a playful insight to all 3rd grade students in the region on how to use the library. The mobile library regularly organises book exhibitions at schools and arranges media boxes on certain topics upon request. Also nursery schools can make use of this offer – we would like to visit your institution and give the children a taste for using the library. With all these modules, the mobile library contributes considerably to promote reading.
If you have any questions or would like to reserve items and like to have, for example, a certain book, please contact us in the morning using the details on the left. So we can guarantee that the reserved book is on board.
